“Then When Lust Hath Conceived, It Bringeth Forth Sin: And Sin,
When It Is Finished, Bringeth Forth Death.”  (James 1:15)

IS SIN REALLY WORTH IT

As I preach and serve our dear sweet Lord Jesus Christ in Bible-Believing Fundamental Independent Baptist Churches all across America and Canada, I find so much sin in the lives of Born-Again Christians.

Last month in July I was saved 50 years and I surrendered to preach 43 years ago.  In all of these years I have never seen so much UNCONFESSED SIN among Christians [God’s People].  So my purpose in this news letter is to talk about the sins of a Christian.

I think too often we get over our Salvation.  We should never forget Calvary and the great price it cost the Son of God for our sin.  But we also must never forget that He died also for those unconfessed sins that have a hold of our lives.  WE MUST, WE MUST REPENT!

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord:
though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18)

God says, I want you to think about this thing.  And that is what I would like for you to do right now.  Think about this question. IS SIN REALLY WORTH IT?

First of all, the pleasure of sin is only temporary.  The drought will end and so will the rain and snow and there will also be relief from the heat, but it will not last.  There are four seasons and they too will come and go.  Sin is seasonal, Sin is pleasant, but only for a season and Sin is only temporary.

The bible is written to let us know that as a Christian you can enjoy life now and you do not have to sin to enjoy it.  (Read about David’s Sin) in (2 Samuel 11) and see how this man of God, not some wicked reprobate but someone who believes in the Lord, knows what it’s like to walk with God.  Dear Christian Church-Member you listen to me.  You will always have a sin nature and if you don’t guard it then you will end up just like David did.  One reason why we sin is because we do not think about the consequences of sin.  It might be fun to commit adultery and there might even be a thrill in it.  But there is a Pay Day…The fun and thrill is only temporary.

I am writing to Christians who are saved today and yet they are looking at dirty books and magazines and the internet and television shows that they know are wrong.  Think about the Position David got himself into.  He was the King of Israel.

This reminds me too often of all the preachers who have fallen because they have come to the place in their life where they think they are above sin.  Know your flesh and realize what it is capable of.  David is not remembered throughout history as a great leader, but as an adulterer.  He was a home breaker.  This was another man’s wife and he broke up a home because he was selfish.  Then he murdered a man.  WHY?  Because one sin always leads to another sin.  Christian young people should wait until God sends them a husband or wife that loves God, lives pure, acts pure and dresses pure.  You should try to please the Lord and become the kind of Christian young person that someone will want to spend their life with.  Keep yourself pure and stay away from temptation.  Read (Ezekiel 18:4).

Secondly, ask Lot if sin is worth it?  Don’t take my word for it read your Bible.  Lot says that Sodom and Gomorrah looks exciting and fun, there is plenty of money down there, green pastures and worldly enjoyments down there.

By the way you know who doesn’t want to read this Newsletter?  Those that are doing what I’m writing about.

So, dear Christian, ask Lot if Sin is really worth it as he watches his wife, grandchildren, daughters and Son-in-laws die.  Ask Lot as he has to live the rest of his life in guilt and loneliness if Sin is really worth it?  God said, Be Sure Your Sins Will Find You Out.  The pleasure of sin is only temporary; the penalty of sin is eternal.  Read (Romans 6:23).  What does sin do?  “When lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin, and when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:15).

But also the payment of sin is expensive.  You say, well I’m saved and I’m going to Heaven so I don’t have to worry about burning in Hell.  Do you really think that it’s going to keep you from paying the high cost of sin?  Ask David what it cost him for sin…The death of three sons, his daughter being raped and heartbreak for the rest of his life because his sin cost him a lifetime of agony.  I’m talking about a little fun and a little pleasure and because of it he spent many nights troubled over what he had done and could not sleep.  How many times did he go by the little baby’s grave and know that it was his fault that he was in the grave.  Ask Jonah if it was worth it and ask Lot and David if Sin Is Worth It?

If you are truly saved and Christ lives in your heart then God is your Father.  As a loving Father, if you sin and refuse to repent, then like a loving Father God will chastise [correct] us.  Read (Hebrews 12:5, 8, 11).  Even today the payment of sin is still expensive.  It will still bring you pain and heartache.  The Bible is very clear.  If you continue to sin and it no longer bothers you, the Holy Spirit does not convict you and God doesn’t chasten you, then you really cannot be a child of God.

So my dear friends, the pleasure of sin is temporary and the penalty of sin is eternal and the payment of sin is expensive.  Christians are you playing with fire today?  Does Sin have a hold of you?  You had better get rid of it [repent].  You can go out into this world and sin and it will be fun for a while. But the fun will end and the pleasure of sin is only temporary, but the payment of sin is eternal…Ask yourself this question Is Sin Really Worth It?

May God give us all victory over the sins that so easily beset us if my prayer.  May God continue to have His divine hand upon your life and ministry.

Love & Prayers In Christ,

Bro. Randy Davis

July 12th of this year is a double blessing for me as I celebrate two of the most important events in my Spiritual Life…On July 12, 1957 at the age of 9 in a little country Baptist Church where my Daddy was Pastor, I trusted Christ as My Personal Savior.  Also again on July 12, 1964 at the age of 16 God called me to the Gospel Ministry while in the 10th grade in High School.

My Daddy was an Independent Fundamental Baptist Pastor and my Grandpa Davis was a Baptist Deacon.   So I am a 3rd generation Christian and a 2nd generation preacher.  My cousin, Glenn Davis, who met with me recently while at meetings in Ohio and Kentucky, has traced our family [Davis’] all the way back to the 1700’s.  He has spent many hours traveling and much expense in doing this.  He said something to me that I will always cherish.  Like any family tree not all of my kin folks were a godly seed.  He told me that as he read all the documents and carefully read their Wills and Testaments, those who were [Born-Again Christians], that one fine thread was woven though every Davis godly seed.  This was passed on to each generation and that was “They Had A Heart For God”.   Oh, how it blessed me to know that about my Christian, godly seeds of past generations.

With the space I have left I would like to discuss about having the POWER OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE AND MINISTRY.

GOD’S POWER IN YOUR LIFE AND MINISTRY

Its one thing to talk about the Power of the Holy Spirit and it’s another thing to experience it in our every day lives.  To rejoice in the Testimonies that others give about the Power Of The Holy Spirit, but it’s another thing to WITNESS His Power…We need a first-hand experience, IN THIS GENERATION of knowing what it is to have God’s Power in our personal lives as well as in our ministries.  To be honest with you I am tired of hearing about men of years gone by who were filled with the Power Of The Holy Spirit.  We need to see some PERSONAL EVIDENCE of God’s Power in one another’s lives…

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which
Heard the Word.” (Acts 10:44).  Also read… (Acts 10:34-39, 44).

When I was in Bible College back in the mid 60’s, I read with much amazement stories about Men Of God Receiving His Power In Their Lives And Ministries.  But we need to see God’s Power Unleashed In our Day…

First, We Need Men Today Who Believe The Bible.  How can we have the Power Of God in our lives and ministries today?  What Is The Secret Of Knowing First-Hand the Power Of God?  Read (Luke 11:11-13).

As an Evangelist [sent out by My Local Church], I was challenged early on to Pray For the Power Of The Holy Spirit in my personal life and ministry.  I’m not a great preacher, nor am I a great public speaker, but I thank God as I have watched His Great Power released in the lives of some of those preachers that we have had the great honor and privilege of ministering to.

We live in a time when many preachers want to quit and where failure is the accepted thing in our Churches.  We come up with all kinds of excuses of Why It Can’t Be Done Today…Why doesn’t somebody reading this Newsletter decide that It Can Be Done Today…

Why doesn’t someone beg God to pour out His Power?

Why shouldn’t we believe that God can do everything today that He’s ever been able to do.  God has NOT Changed…Man has…Instead of crying, where is the Lord God of Elijah?  Why don’t we cry, Where are the Elijah’s of our day…God has not changed.  God can still do for you what He has done for others before you.  God is looking for some men who will believe in Him and pay the price in Prayer to beg Him to do something real in their lives and ministry.

Secondly, in (Acts 1:8) it says, But Ye Shall Receive Power.  The early Christians first received power then they went out and turned the World upside down for Christ.  Folks all across America are interested in the supernatural.  We see this in various satanic worship, [which is on the rise] because folks are searching for power far greater than their own.  The great shame in this dilemma in our Nation is that folks are not seeing any POWER manifested in our Local Churches.  In many cases they have found the Church to be Powerless.  Many young folks have looked to the Church for answers and have not found them there.  We need to return to believing that the answer to life’s questions can be found in the Word of God.  We need Old Fashioned Bible Believing Churches to get back to believing that God is still God, and He still pours out His Spirit upon those who really believe in Him and are still willing to beg for His Power.

The Truth is…We do not need something NEW…We need to get Back to believing the Old Truths that have Not Changed…When was the last time you thirsted for God to use you and to see God do greater things in your midst.  “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:19-21). There are some things that God will not do for us until we show Him that we mean business.

What happened to all night prayer time and going off alone and begging God to do something big in our lives and ministries?  God is looking for somebody who wants His Power bad enough to pay the price of pleading with Him in prayer.  We have a big God who has no problem answering big prayers if we will be bold enough to bring them before Him. (Jeremiah 33:3) is still in the Bible…

And thirdly, God says, Call Unto Me, And I Will Answer Thee…THIS IS THE PROMISE OF GOD.  He is waiting for somebody to take Him at His Word.  When was the last time you claimed (Hebrews 4:16).  “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”  Also the Bible tells us in (Ephesians 3:20).  “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.”  ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT WORKETH IN US.

The trouble is that we do not tap into that Power through Prayer like we should.  As I attend preacher’s fellowship meetings I sure do appreciate my fellowship with the brethren. A nice pat on the back once in awhile is comforting and all the words of encouragement are a blessing.  But there is nothing that I appreciate more from you than your prayers.

So as I finish writing you, thank you, for allowing me to share my heart with you.  Allow me to challenge you to thirst and seek after the Power Of God in your life and in your ministry.  Invest some planned time in prayer.  Too many of us preachers and Christians alike are drowning in a sea of complacency.  Let me encourage you to pray for one another, for lost loved ones and let me encourage you to return to the prayer closet for those wayward children.

The Power Of God Is Available To you…Why Not Invest Sometime in PRAYER and unleash the Power Of the Holy Spirit in your Life and Ministry.

May God continue to have His divine hand upon your life and ministry is my prayer.

A Servant Of The Lord,

Bro. Randy Davis

“And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit.  And wherefore
one?  That he might seek a godly seed.  Therefore take heed to your spirit, and
let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.”  (Malachi 2:15)

Father’s Day is always a special time of year for me.   June is when we focus on appreciation and remembrance of our Fathers.  My Daddy was an Independent Baptist Pastor and every Father’s Day it is an honor and privilege to preach out of His King James Bible when he was ordained in December 1938.  I have a Sermon preached by him at age 21 entitled, “In Sin Or In Christ” when I preach it I call it ‘My Daddy’s Sermon’.

I am so very grateful for my Christian Heritage.  I will talk about that in more detail in July’s Newsletter.

Read verses 11-15 of Malachi chapter 2.

A  MESSAGE FROM MY DADDY’S BIBLE

“He who has lost his children has lost everything.” (v. 15)

God desires a godly seed.  Eli lost his family and his home was destroyed because there was no instruction, no influence and no restraint.  Read (I Samuel chpts. 2, 3, 4) There must be unity and determination along with total dedication.

If we’re going to bring our children up to live godly lives, to live in the Will of God then God’s Desire is for a godly seed.  Parents [Fathers] must decide to depend upon a single, Absolute Authority, the Word of God.  Read
(Psalms 127:1; 2Timothy 3:16, 17; and Psalms 119:128).

A Message From My Daddy’s Bible…are you willing to hate every false way?  We reproduce after our kind.  Your Children are being trained to be what you are. [Fathers].  Build godly character in them and let your children see that you are happy walking with the Lord.  Don’t let television steal communication and morals from your children and don’t only train them by your Yes and No but also by being a godly example yourself.  If you train your children by your life so that they see consistency, happiness and forgiveness they will not be in such a hurry to leave home.  Let them see what a loving God and denying self really does.  Read (Matthew 16:24, 25; Luke 9:23, 24; and Luke 14:25-33).  Let them see that you do not lose by serving God but that you gain.  Let them see love and compassion because we’re to train them.  Bring them up.  It’s Active and not Passive. It denotes deliberate, positive action.  I will not be an accident.  It will not happen by itself…Bring them up…Is A COMMAND…Not a Suggestion.  Some verses that give us God’s Directive for rearing our children are (Ephesians 6:4; Proverbs 22:6, 15; and Proverbs 29:15).

Fathers praise your children’s efforts and accomplishments.  Don’t ask more of your children than they are capable of giving.  We have a tendency to talk about our own childhood and make it seem better than our children’s.  Don’t forget to enjoy your Children.  Never make them feel that they are a burden, trial or difficulty.  We fail to give them time for acceptance or time for maturity or growth.  Don’t forget to admit it when you are wrong and ask them for forgiveness.  If we are to have Spiritual Healing there must be a confession of sin.  Read (James 5:16).

Do let them share their life, hearts, burdens, concerns and frustrations.  Do take time to meet their needs with an open compassionate heart.  The purpose of Corrective Discipline is to do away with habits of sin, to determine and change weakness in character and to mold their lives with godly Christian Character.  We need to know our children’s weaknesses and strengths and help them to grow spiritually…DO TEACH THEM…We should have goals involved…Children should be able to live what the parents [Fathers] have taught them.  We need the Family Altar and family devotion time to teach the Word of God, meditating upon the Word of God and also read the memorize the Word Of God.  There should be goals involved in training your Children.  Teach them with the Scriptures.  Also, be sure and share your Spiritual Heritage of past generations in your family tree, so your children will know what God has done for your family.  Share God’s ways and works.  SO your Children will know that God’s Power is always available to them in their lives.  Share the importance of God’s Authority in their lives.  Share the importance of God-given goals and share the importance of Convictions.

Teach your children and know them.  Character and Instruction must come from the Home.  Parents [Fathers] you are the one who puts true godly Character into your children’s lives.  If you don’t have standards at home…rules for their sake, they will have a hard time being what they should be for the Lord.

I was raised up from a godly seed through the teaching and training found in God’s Word.   This was A TRUE MESSAGE FROM MY DADDY’S BIBLE.

So Fathers as your children and family give you honor today I challenge you and exhort you too, to give them A Message From Your Bible as well as my prayer.  We are the Spiritual Leaders of our home and I exhort each of you to pray for one another.  For our dear Lord has given us the greatest responsibility as well as the greatest privilege.
